Tee Off for Teen-Line Ireland

RTE Presenter Brain Ormond with Teen-Line Founder Maureen Bolger and members of Talented Kids Performing Arts School launch the awareness campaign for the Teen-Line Ireland Golf Classic which will take place in City West Hotel on June 11th. Teen-Line Ireland is a national free-phone helpline for young people who may be feeling alone, worried, distressed or suicidal.

Format of the golf classic is a 4 man team event which will include a gala dinner and charity auction in City West Hotel that evening. Entry fee for each team is €800 for what promises to be an enjoyable days golf with friends and at the same time supporting a very worthy cause, Teen-Line Ireland. Brian Ormond and David Kennedy, former Editor of The Echo Newspaper and Vice Captain of Slade Valley Golf Club have teamed up with Teen-line Ireland to help promote the event to raise much needed funds for Teen-Line. Brian himself understands the importance of the service Teen-Line offers, he said, “Suicide among young people in Ireland today has reached a critical point so when I was asked to help promote fundraising for Teen-Line I jumped at the chance. This is a very worthy cause and a much needed service for our younger generation who feel they have no one else to talk to.”

In 2006, 409 people died by suicide in Ireland, 93 of which were in the 15-24 age category.  Young people persistently make reference to the importance of having someone who will listen to them without judgement and this is the core aim of Teen-Line Ireland. However, due to minimal funding Teen-Line Ireland is at present open only 15 hours a week, yet are being inundated with calls. Since the help-lines opened in July 2006, there have been over 15,000 calls indicating a huge demand and response to the service. Teen-Line Ireland aims to expand the helpline service to meet the needs of young people and hope to be able to achieve this in the near future with your support.

To book your team and tee time please call 01 466 4500, alternatively you can make a donation on-line @ www.teenline.ie or donate items for the charity auction. All donations are welcome and very much appreciated. Teen-Line’s Research Officer, Caroline O’Connor said, “It is with the help of the local community that Teen-Line Ireland has come this far; with further support from the wider community through fundraising events like this year’s Golf Classic, Teen-Line Ireland can continue to provide young people with a safe space to open up.”

In today’s society more and more people are choosing to buy their family home outside of Dublin. Either on the outskirts or surrounding counties, to commute daily or to make a new start away from the hustle and bustle of city living.

There are many reasons, such as:

The rise of house prices in Dublin.
The value-for-money when comparing Dublin properties to those in its surrounding counties.
Or simply making the choice to raise their family in more peaceful surroundings.

The Commuter Homes Exhibition will showcase the wide variety of properties available to families in counties such as Westmeath, Louth, Cavan, Kildare, Carlow, Wicklow, Wexford, Meath, Laois, Kilkenny, Longford and Offaly etc. There will be professionals on hand throughout the day to give expert advice on the subject of buying a property and all associated with it.

Due to the ongoing success of the previous exhibitions in March and September 2007, we are very aware of the mediums of advertising that will attract exactly this audience. An extensive but targeted marketing campaign in the national press and local press will commence prior to the event.

There will also be additional marketing initiatives to include the following campaign: internet advertising, leaflet, poster and banner distribution within a 10 mile radius of the venue and an
email reminder to 1,000 pre-registered attendees in the week leading up to the exhibition.
